Dear Members of the ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ Community,

You likely have many questions right now, as you just received another flurry of Nova Alerts about another possible incident on campus. First and foremost, the campus is, and has been, safe despite the troubling events of the past several days. The call we received today about a possible threat was also unfounded. That said, I understand how alarming it is to receive these alerts, but we take every call seriously and take the utmost precaution to ensure the safety of our community. We will always be overly cautious and vigilant when it comes to campus safety.

Like me, you are probably wondering what is happening and how, just a few days later, we are receiving more alerts about another possible incident. I wish I had more answers for you, but federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are actively investigating both incidents. I do not know why this is happening, but I assure you the authorities are working tirelessly to find out who is behind these calls.

I know it may not seem like it after the past couple of days, but I assure you that campus is safe, and there is no evidence of a legitimate threat to our community. Tonight, and for the immediate future, we will continue to have an increased police and public safety presence out of an abundance of caution.

We are moving forward with the University Commissioning at 7 p.m. in the Finneran Pavilion tonight. This community Mass and blessing marks the start of the academic year, and this year in particular, I look forward to coming together as a community to give thanks for our many blessings and pray for the year ahead. If you are not on campus and would like to take part in the Commissioning, please use this .

I pray that we can come together as a community, strengthened by our care and concern for one another, and overcome the distress and frustration that these incidents have caused.

With love and concern for all,
