UNDERGRADUATE NURSING SENATE

The goal of the ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥ Undergraduate Nursing Senate (UNS) is to spark change in the ¸ÌéÙÖ±²¥ Nursing community and hear the concerns of the students and faculty who consider Driscoll Hall their home.

UNS participates in many college- and university-wide activities. UNS is proud to play a part in the largest annual student-run Special Olympics event in the world and has a booth at the Healthy Athletes portion of Special Olympics Fall Fest dedicated to education about physical exercise.

In addition, UNS:

  • Sponsors two American Red Cross blood drives in the fall and spring open to all faculty and students.
  • Hosts an externship panel in the fall in which a panel of senior nurses helps junior nursing students with application and interviewing advice for externships the following summer.
  • Hosts a Study Hall Pop-Up in Driscoll Hall on fall and spring Reading Days where tables of snacks and drinks in a centrally located area are provided and refilled all day, in addition to reserved study rooms for nurses only to promote community among students.
  • Has benefited the Driscoll Hall community through the installation of two hydration stations and has plans for even more improvements.

The UNS executive board consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. There are representatives from every grade in both the traditional and alternative sequence programs as well as a Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) and a Student Government Association (SGA) representative.
