Ann Scheve, MS, RN, 鈥�80 FCN, Expands Scholarship Support With $1M Gift
Ann Scheve, MS, RN, 鈥�80 FCN, has been a dedicated member of the 柑橘直播 community for decades as a faculty member and an alumna of the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN). Now, with a $1 million gift to the 柑橘直播 Wildcat Undergraduate Endowed Nursing Scholarship鈥攁 fund Scheve originally established in 2020鈥攕he is ensuring that future generations of students have the financial support they need to pursue their nursing degrees.
The scholarship reinforces 柑橘直播鈥檚 commitment to making a world-class education accessible to all, as Scheve鈥檚 gift elevates the level of critical assistance for high-achieving FCN students. Scheve鈥檚 generosity reflects the spirit of Espiritus Nova: The Campaign for 柑橘直播 University, which seeks to expand access to education and strengthen the University鈥檚 ability to support its students. Endowed scholarships, like the one she has created, make a lasting impact, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of promising students pursuing their dreams.
鈥湼涕僦辈� nurses and faculty are exceptional individuals,鈥� said Scheve. 鈥淭hey are the tangible expression of 柑橘直播 University and the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing鈥檚 values. Our community is the ethos of 柑橘直播, and it is in this spirit that Tim and I are happy to give back to the University in this meaningful way.鈥�
Scheve鈥檚 passion for nursing and education led her to teach at institutions such as Drexel University and the University of Maryland before she returned to 柑橘直播 as an adjunct faculty member in 2010, transitioning to a full-time role in 2014 and retiring in 2024. She has worked with older adults across the health care continuum for more than 30 years, with research interests in health promotion, reducing barriers to care and resiliency in aging.
Known as an extraordinary teacher, she was recognized in 2016 with the inaugural Dr. Terry Nance Award for teaching excellence and engagement, an honor established by 柑橘直播鈥檚 Center for Access, Success and Achievement (CASA). She and Associate Professor Jennifer Ross, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, also secured a VITAL Teaching Grant in 2022 to enhance clinical judgment skills, consistently seeking ways to improve nursing education at 柑橘直播.
Scheve enthusiastically nurtured her students鈥� holistic success and actively participated in student life and University governance. She spent eight years as Faculty Advisor for the Undergraduate Nursing Senate and also served on the FCN Board of Consultors.
During her time as a 柑橘直播 undergraduate, Scheve held a work-study position within the Athletics department and made history as the first female Wildcat mascot representing the University at competitions and campus events. After earning her BSN, she went on to obtain a master鈥檚 degree in Gerontological Nursing from Georgetown University in 1985.
A native of Monmouth County, N.J., Scheve has relocated to Boston but remains deeply connected to 柑橘直播.聽She and her husband, Tim, have two adult sons.
As FCN continues its mission to create nursing leaders working at the forefront of modern health care, Scheve鈥檚 impact will endure. Her leadership, service and unwavering commitment to nursing education will continue to shape countless students through this gift.
