All eyes are on Paris: more than 10,000 athletes from 206 nations are set to compete in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, the third Olympics in the City of Love and the first since 1924. Patrick Tiernan '16 CLAS Heads to Paris as University Celebrates Latest Chapter of Olympic Tradition
For the 20th consecutive Summer Olympics there will be at least one ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯n competing on the world's biggest stage. Former track & field standout Patrick Tiernan '16 CLAS was named one of five Australian athletes who were selected by the Australian Olympic Committee to compete in the marathon at Paris 2024 Olympics this summer.
Computing Sciences Professor Awarded Grant from US Department of Agriculture
Venkata Siva Kumar Margapuri, PhD, associate professor of Computing Sciences at ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ University has been awarded a three-year, $749,086 grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) to utilize autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs), computer vision and other artificial intelligence (AI) tools to study the abundance of Bombus species—commonly known as bumblebees—their relationship with wild flora and factors that affect pollinator health.
Terry Delaney ’83 CLAS to Receive 2024 St. Thomas of ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ Alumni Medal
The ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ University Alumni Association (VUAA) has announced the selection of Terry Delaney ’83 CLAS as the recipient of its 2024 St. Thomas of ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ Alumni Medal. The medal is the highest award given by the VUAA and is presented to alumni for outstanding service and for reflecting the spirit and legacy of St. Thomas of ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯.
Britney Davis ’15 COE Selected as Recipient of the 2024 ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ University Alumni Association Young Alumni Medal
The ΈΜιΩΦ±²₯ University Alumni Association (VUAA) has named Britney Davis ’15 COE as the recipient of its 2024 Young Alumni Medal. The award honors alumni who have made outstanding contributions professionally, academically and in service to the University.
